Terms of use

What HelpShelter is

HelpShelter is a free, public index of animal shelters. It is run by Ecaterina Griciuc and Grigori Panciohin, two volunteers based in Moldova, and there is no company behind it. Writing to support@help-shelter.com reaches us directly.

By using this site you accept these terms. They are short because the site is simple: you read it, and you contact shelters yourself.

We are not the shelters

Every shelter listed here is an independent organization. We do not own, run, represent or speak for any of them, and listing a shelter is not a recommendation, a partnership or a guarantee of anything. We charge shelters nothing to appear here, and we take nothing from what they receive.

The information on this site

Shelter pages are built from public sources, and we check them as carefully as a small volunteer team can. Even so, details go out of date, and we cannot promise that everything here is accurate or complete. Before you send money or arrange a visit, confirm the details with the shelter through its own channels. Our disclaimer explains this in full.

Donations

We never handle your money. Donations to a shelter are a matter between you and that shelter, made through its own bank account or payment page. Donations to HelpShelter itself go through PayPal and support the running of the platform; they are voluntary, they are not a payment for any service, and we cannot refund them once they reach us — though if you have sent something by mistake, write to us and we will do what we can.

Using the site

You may read anything here, link to any page, and share pages freely — that is what the site is for. What we ask you not to do is anything that damages it or the people on it: taking the content wholesale with automated tools, overloading the servers, breaking into any part of the site, or using the contact details published here to send marketing, spam or anything a shelter did not ask for. Those details are published so that people can help shelters, and for nothing else.

Our content and theirs

The design of this site and the texts we write are ours, and copyright in them stays with us. You may quote a reasonable part of them with a visible link back to the page you took it from.

The facts about shelters are not ours. Names, addresses and contact details belong to those shelters, as do their logos and photographs, and we make no claim over them. If you want to reuse a large part of this site — a whole country's listings, say, or the catalogue as a dataset — write to us first.

For shelters listed here

If this is your shelter, you can ask us to change anything, add anything, or take the page down altogether. One email to support@help-shelter.com is enough, and you do not have to explain why. We reply within a few days.

The site is provided as it is

HelpShelter is offered as it stands, with no warranty of any kind. We cannot promise it will always be available, free of errors, or up to date, and we are not responsible for what happens on the sites, social networks and payment pages we link to.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss or damage arising from your use of this site or of the information on it — including money sent to a shelter whose details turned out to be wrong. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have by law that cannot be given up.

Changes

We may change the site at any time, and these terms along with it. The date below says when they last changed, and we will not rewrite them quietly: significant changes will be described rather than slipped in.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by Moldovan law. If you use the site as a consumer in another country, you keep the protections of your own country's law, and nothing here is meant to change that.
