About the shelter

"Cat in the Window" is a cozy cat shelter located in a rented private house on the outskirts of Minsk, in a picturesque village. Operating since May 15, 2011, the shelter, which relies on a wood-burning heating system and lacks centralized water supply, has become a safe haven for many cats and kittens who have lost their homes or were born on the streets to stray cats. The initiative to create "Cat in the Window" came from ordinary people who feel a deep responsibility to address the issue of homeless animals. The shelter not only provides a roof over their heads but also runs a sterilization program to help reduce the number of stray cats. Every pet that finds a new home makes space for another resident, with the shelter housing an average of 40 to 45 cats at any given time. The shelter welcomes new volunteers, emphasizing that any help, even just a few hours a week, makes a significant difference in the lives of many cats. Volunteering at "Cat in the Window" requires no financial contribution and is arranged at a time convenient for the volunteers, making it a great opportunity to make a positive impact without disrupting your regular life or work.
