"White Bim" Animal Shelter, Almaty / Приют для животных «Белый Бим»

About the shelter

“White Bim” is the first shelter for homeless animals organized by volunteers in Almaty.

The history of the shelter began in 2010. It was a temporary shelter for 200 dogs rescued from trapping services.

The funds raised by activists were only enough for dog food and necessary medicines. Many dogs died because they were infected. Many of them were immediately adopted to new families.

Currently, the shelter is supported by charitable donations and is home to almost 150 dogs and 18 cats The volunteer group helping the shelter's needs is about 100 people. About 8,000 volunteers provide occasional help as much as they can. Volunteers of the shelter also help other animal shelters organized by private individuals in their homes and apartments.

The purpose of the shelter was to help homeless and abandoned animals as an alternative to cruel capture and killing. In the course of our activities tens of thousands of animals have been rescued, most of them have found new families. Among them are those who have been rescued from capture services, recovered from injuries on the roads and simply returned to their lost owners.

We rescue those who have died of cold and hunger, those who have been injured under the wheels of cars, or those who have become victims of human cruelty and indifference.

In the shelter animals receive full care, protection, food, comprehensive veterinary services (vaccinations, treatment, sterilization, etc.) and a chance to find a new loving family.
