About the shelter

The shelter on Zorge Street has existed since 2004. Almost immediately after the shelter started its work, it was completely full and for a long time has not been accepting new dogs even with financial support. Now there are 190 dogs in the shelter, most of them 8-10 years old or more. This means that in addition to food and household needs, the shelter faces the constant challenge of providing treatment and maintaining veterinary care for sick dogs. The Zorge shelter exists through charity and donations and is not funded by the city. In order to increase trust in fundraising and transparency of its spending, the volunteers of the Zorge shelter established the Every Dog Charity Fund.

Although the shelter on Zorge is considered small by Moscow standards, it is not easy to take care of all the dogs, because the dogs need not only to be fed and let out for a walk at least once a day, but also to be engaged with them, to give each of them at least a little attention and affection. Regular volunteers who come to care for and socialize with the dogs are very important and necessary! The dogs are mostly old, very kind, contact, socialized. They really want human attention and socialization. When someone comes in, the dogs happily rush to meet them, climb under their arms to be petted, and love to cuddle. They don't even need treats, as long as you reach out to pet them! It gives a tremendous boost of energy and positive emotions every time you see it! In the shelter there are puppies, there are young and very old dogs, of different sizes and appearance, kind, tame, vaccinated. And they all really need a home!
