About the shelter

Casa Cainelui is a private and voluntary animal shelter in Romania run by Romulus Sale. He is a Romanian who stands out from the majority of his fellow countrymen by volunteering to take care of sick, abandoned and abused dogs. As a shelter manager, Romulus is responsible for the accommodation, medical care, vaccination and feeding of the street dogs. In order to prevent more and more unwanted dogs from being born, the main focus is on neutering street dogs and changing attitudes in Romanian society. One important task is to educate the population to change their attitudes towards dogs and other animals. In recent years, a new shelter with more space and better hygienic conditions has been built in an open field just outside Timisoara. Paths have gradually been paved and outdoor enclosures created. A warehouse for food, work and supplies has been built. A clinic with a quarantine area and a puppy house have also been built. The complete care of our up to 350 dogs, the organisational support of the shelter as well as the structural development is only possible with the help of loyal donors and hard-working volunteers on site.
