About the shelter

It is in the power of each of us to change the world we live in for the better - through respect, tolerance and compassion, for both human and non-human species. Red Panda's mission is to contribute to a society in which animals are respected, accepted and treated responsibly by humans. Red Panda was founded in 2012, and the name of the association (of a species threatened with extinction as a result of the barbaric actions of humans) symbolizes the power of humans to do evil, but also, depending on their choice, to do GOOD.

From 2012 to the present, Red Panda Association's programs and activities are: Rescue, rehabilitation and adoption placement of animals. We inaugurated the first dog adoption center in Romania, a place different from a shelter, which contains limited accommodation spaces and where animals have daily play and socialization program, to prepare them for a family life with humans.
Education for children, young people and adults: programs in schools, training courses for veterinarians, events and campaigns. Free sterilization campaigns for dogs and cats carried out in Bucharest and Ilfov, to limit uncontrolled breeding and abandonment.
We have also organized trainings on sterilization techniques for veterinarians at the Faculty of Medicine, in collaboration with veterinarians and organizations abroad. Informing and raising awareness of the general public about the welfare of owned and stray animals, as well as empowering pet owners by organizing empowerment events (Ham Fest - the first festival dedicated to puppies and their people, the launch of the play Confessions of a Dog (x performances in Bucharest and in the country), adoption fairs, participation in cultural events, etc. Welfare of working horses: free medical assistance and shoeing for the horses of poor families in disadvantaged areas.

For more than ten years, the Red Panda Adoption Center has been the "home" for many stray and unwanted dogs. Rescued from dramatic and extremely dangerous situations, the dogs that have crossed the threshold of the adoption center have found here people who offer them the best care, but also the space to regain their trust in people and to be ready for a family. The adoption center has 13 kennels where all the puppies have enough space to live in comfort. In the winter they benefit from heating lamps and in the summer they enjoy the cool of the trees in the yard. In addition, the center has a specially designed play area for puppies to play, have fun and romp. The daily program is built around the needs of the dogs in our care, so they get rest as well as play and exercise. The ultimate goal is for more and more animals to have a home, so the adoption center is just a temporary space where animals are prepared for a life with a family. At the adoption center, puppies rescued from life-threatening situations are waiting to be visited and adopted by responsible families. We invite you to visit the adoption center and meet some wonderful puppies. The funds raised through this project are used to cover the following costs in the adoption center: - premium quality food (dry and wet) for the puppies in our care. - cover utility costs: electricity, water and garbage. Please help us to take the best possible care of these pets until all the more puppies have a "home". Thank you and we look forward to your visit anytime to meet the beneficiaries directly!
