About the shelter

Founded by veterinarians Leonid and Valentina Stoyanov, Vet Crew is a rescue team and veterinary shelter based in Odesa, Ukraine. Long before the war, the couple was already known for their deep commitment to animal welfare, especially their rare expertise in treating exotic and wild animals. When full-scale war broke out in 2022, they made a life-changing decision: to stay, help, and save as many animals as they could, no matter the risk.

Since then, Vet Crew has become a symbol of hope. The team travels into flood zones, bombed areas, and abandoned villages to rescue animals left behind — from cats and dogs to owls, lion cubs, and many other animals. Every living soul they can reach! One of their most widely seen moments was a video of Leonid saving a kitten during the Kherson floods, which went viral worldwide and brought attention to the silent victims of war: animals.

Beyond emergency missions, Leonid and Valentina are now building a unique shelter — a safe haven for the animals they rescue from war, floods, and abandonment. Their work goes far beyond medicine: they drive into disaster zones, carry injured animals in their arms, and personally nurse each one back to health. Every life they save is met with deep compassion, hands-on care, and the unwavering belief that no animal should be left behind.

They work is run entirely on donations. These donations fund emergency rescues, treatments, and shelter. Vet Crew regularly shares updates and rescue stories on their social media to keep their community connected and informed.
What makes Vet Crew truly special is their compassion, courage, and the sense that no life is too small to matter.
