Doctor Vet Moldova

About the shelter

Doctor Vet Moldova is a registered nonprofit animal shelter based in Cricova, Moldova. Founded in 2017 by a group of volunteers led by Vladislav Dorofeev, the organization operates independently without state support and is fully sustained through private donations and volunteer assistance. The shelter provides care for approximately 150 to 200 animals at any given time, primarily dogs and cats rescued from the streets or from cases of neglect.
Alongside the shelter, the organization runs a veterinary clinic in Chișinău, which helps fund part of the shelter's ongoing needs. Their work includes sterilization, vaccination, rehabilitation, and adoption of animals, as well as emergency rescues when possible. Doctor Vet is also involved in public awareness and outreach, collaborating with international animal welfare organizations such as FOUR PAWS to implement CNVR (Catch, Neuter, Vaccinate, Return) programs in various communities.
Conditions at the shelter are modest. Animals are housed in outdoor or simple indoor enclosures, with winters posing particular challenges due to limited resources. Despite a small core team made up of volunteers, a veterinarian, and a few caretakers, the shelter manages daily operations, medical care, and outreach efforts. Donations in the form of funds, food, medicines, and materials like bedding are regularly needed and welcomed.
Doctor Vet Moldova is transparent and active on social media, using platforms such as Facebook and Instagram to share updates, report on their work, and encourage adoptions. Supporters can contribute through local bank transfers or PayPal. While resources remain limited, the organization continues to grow and strives to improve the living conditions of the animals under its care.
