"Beglobis" Shelter / VšĮ "Beglobis" (LGGD Vilniaus skyrius)

About the shelter

“Beglobis” Animal Shelter (VšĮ "Beglobis", LGGD Vilniaus skyrius) is a non-governmental, nonprofit shelter located in Vilnius, Lithuania. Originally founded in October 2009 as part of the Lithuanian Society for the Protection of Animals (LGGD), it was established through the Wagons of Life project to rescue healthy animals from euthanasia at the municipal shelter «Grinda".
In 2013, LGGD’s Vilnius branch formalized operations by registering as an independent NGO, VšĮ Beglobis, fully supported by donations.

The shelter currently cares for approximately 60 cats and dogs, rescued from the streets and municipal shelters, providing them with medical care, food, and socialization until they find new homes.

The organization is led by Danute Navickiene, who serves as the official manager of VšĮ Beglobis.

Beglobis relies entirely on the goodwill of supporters. Donations can be made through bank transfers and PayPal, and Lithuanian taxpayers are able to dedicate a portion of their income tax to the shelter. Despite the limited resources and often difficult conditions, the team constantly strives to improve living standards for the animals and to expand the scope of their work. Long-term support is essential for the shelter to continue developing and providing safe refuge for stray cats and dogs.

Mission & Goals: ∙ Rescue animals from shelter euthanasia and provide them a second chance at life. ∙ Promote humane treatment of animals and raise public awareness. ∙ Support sterilization programs for homeless animals. ∙ Report animal abuse and support legal consequences for offenders
