Hundreds of wild cats are roaming around Syros in a sorry state. They get some food in the summer, when many visitors are around and all the tavernas are open, but in the winter they rely on scavenging in rubbish. A lucky few find a place in a colony where some caring individual feeds them, but many get cold and sick and have a miserable existence, and others die from hunger. We're a collection of people in Syros who are working to change this situation. We're deeply concerned about the cats' welfare, and we're keenly aware of the negative impact this is having on tourism. Just like many visitors, we love cats, and we can't stand to see them suffering. Our efforts include holding neutering programmes in cooperation with local vets, feeding cats regularly (whether in colonies or on the street), and educating locals and visitors about cat welfare. If you believe cats on Syros deserve a better life, please become a fan of this page to show your support. If you'd like to do more, we'd be very grateful for donations of any amount toward our next neutering programme.
