About the shelter

The "Baroi Hayot" Public Organization is an officially registered animal shelter, led by Shelter Director Mukhabat Shafieva. Located on the outskirts of Dushanbe, on the way to Vahdat, it provides a safe haven for over 30 dogs, ensuring them shelter, food, and medical care.

 The animals live in a secure enclosed area, where they can move freely in good weather. At night, they rest in covered enclosures, each with its own doghouse. Fresh food is prepared daily, and clean drinking water is always available. The shelter also regularly provides vaccinations and deworming treatments to keep the animals healthy.

 Relocation and a New Space for the Animals.

 In 2024, the shelter faced a critical challenge—after seven years of operation, it was forced to relocate. This put the lives of 35 dogs at risk, many of whom were elderly, disabled, or sick and could not survive on the streets. After extensive searching, a new location was found, but it required complete setup from scratch. Thanks to the support of compassionate people, the shelter was able to clear the land, install a water system, build a secure fence, and construct enclosures for the animals. Now, the dogs are safe, but improvements are still ongoing. The shelter urgently needs continued support to provide food, medical care, and further enhancements to the facilities. 
 The shelter receives no government funding and operates solely through donations and volunteer efforts. Every contribution—whether financial aid, food donations, or spreading awareness—helps give these animals a second chance at life.
