About the shelter

Mehr Dog Rehabilitation Center.
Located in the Pskent district of the Tashkent region, the Mehr Dog Rehabilitation Center was established in August 2021 with the support of AKFA Group. It is Uzbekistan’s first shelter equipped with veterinary and canine services, designed to accommodate up to 1,000 dogs.
Covering an area of 1 hectare, the shelter features 11 enclosures, designated walking zones, an administrative and medical center, a surgical department, and special sections for puppies and nursing dogs. A dedicated team of 27 specialists, including veterinarians, dog trainers, and caretakers, provides daily care for the physical and psychological well-being of the animals.
At Mehr, socialization and rehabilitation are top priorities. All dogs receive vaccinations, sterilization or castration, and basic training, including leash walking and obedience commands, to improve their chances of finding new homes. Volunteers play a crucial role in helping dogs regain trust in humans through interaction and care.
The shelter actively collaborates with volunteers and compassionate individuals by organizing adoption events and educational programs to promote responsible pet ownership. While AKFA Group provides partial funding, a significant portion of expenses is covered through donations and volunteer support. Anyone can contribute—whether through financial assistance, volunteering, or simply spreading awareness about the shelter and its animals.
